Under the tuscan rain

 My oh my!!
It has been A SUPER BUSY week with my company's Quality Control Contest.
We had the presentation last Friday, after it finished I felt as free as a bird!
(my group won second place, btw, weeeee!)

Time to give myself a little reward!

Yes! I went out of town with my friends from the university's volunteer club.
About 2 and a half hours from Bangkok by bus,we arrived  "Nakhonratchasima" province.
Here are some snap shots from the trip!

The members
Upper left : Planin, Kej
Lower left : Som-o, me
We stopped by "Suan Muangporn"  to have lunch.

I like taking pictures with instagram application from my iphone, especially in this Nashville shade.

A bit cloudy but still breath taking :)

The food.
After the meal the manager of our hotel picked us up and took us to the windmill power plant "Lamtakong"

Then we arrived at our hotel, "Positano Resort" , which has newly opened since last year's October. They won 2010 Thailand's best boutique hotel award so I have been very interested in this hotel since.
I bought the voucher from 22nd Thailand's Travelling Festival event in March but didn't have time to use until this month! See how busy (traveling to some other hotels) I've been!
This is our house for the night, Tuscany house. They have the main villa with 3 bedrooms, Florence house with 2 bedrooms and this one with 3.
  Let's take a peek inside.

 The master bedroom

What I loved most in the house, the wooden bath tub!

About this trip's outfit :
The night before the trip I opened my closet and tried on some clothes but everything looked stupid on me. (Well, maybe I'm a bit over exaggerating but I really felt it at the time!)
I was too tired and sleepy so I ended up picking this dress and another jumpsuit from Jaspal  because I've never worn them before since purchased.  Along I picked the orange cardigan from French Connection. It wasn't a mistake after all. I love how the color goes well with the dress, and coincidentally, with the house. The hat is my mom's. It matches the dress's navy blue so I chose it. The over all look reminds me of the witch, don't you think so too?
Right beside our house is the "English Cottage" which its first floor is a coffee shop/restaurant and the upstairs is an accommodation of 2 bedrooms.

In front of the English cottage is the garden they call "English Garden" with the fountain and the Tuscany view background.(So how can it be an English garden??)
BTW, they were playing "Valentine's day" soundtrack CD while we were discovering the garden so it suddenly became my BG music of this trip. I think the movie is rubbish but has decent collection of soundtrack. I have the CD at home and sometimes play it after work to refresh myself.

Opposite the garden was a small sheep farm with fluffy adorable sheep from New Zealand. It was rainy so the owner didn't let them out :(
Just so you know, I do adore sheep! I think they are one of the cutest creatures on earth! (This may sound silly but I love them so much I can't bare eating lamb!)

After dinner, of course, my favorite thing to do on vacation. I had a long hot bubble bath!
Having no wine or alcohol for this trip (how come?!?), I pushed play on Jim Tomlinson and Stacey Kent's 2006 album "The Lyric".  to let Stacey's sassy style of vocal light up my mood of swinging.
It was absolutely the right choice :)
Don't be surprised, the only thing I do when on vacation is : ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! I always choose comfy resorts to hide in and do nothing but reading, watching DVDs, listening to my iPod, bubble bathing and of course, eating and drinking!
Good morning! I set my alarm at 6 in order to wake up and go see the sea of fog but what happened was that I woke up, turned off the alarm and went back to sleep. Only Som-O had a chance to see that, sadness!

We had our breakfast at the second floor of the villa.

Planin brought her Polaroid camera so she took us some pics. I love this one!
This is my Jaspal Jump suit. Though looking like separated white shirt and floral print shorts, actually they are attached. The cardigan helps brighten the outfit. It's a super valued piece I'm very proud of!
The last shot of the villa. The sun finally came out to us at last!

Ok, time for a serious review of this trip. (Out of 5 stars)
Accommodation : ★★★
Food:★★★
Service:★★★★
Price :★★

The resort claims itself as "Thailand's little Italy" but the place didn't give me much of that feeling. (I've never been to Italy before, but another resort I've stayed "La Toscana" gave so much more "Tuscany" atmosphere with the trees and the accommodation itself. ( I've been to La Toscana twice last year, will definitely give a review later on)  Our house "Tuscany" was clean and nice, the bed was comfortable (the sheet was especially to praise with its fresh sunny scent) but that was pretty much it. For 9,500 baht a night I think it was quiet overpriced.

The food was "normally" pricy for this level of hotel but it wasn't very impressive as advertised. I understand you can't expect perfect services from such newly opened hotel, so as guessed, the handling was still unprofessional but I give them 4 stars because the manager K.Pheung was really helpful come picking us up all the way at Suan Muangporn. She even drove us to the windmill power plant for sight seeing and on the way back, dropped us at the outlet for shopping. The location of the resort was 20 km into the hill and we would definitely be lost without her.

In general, I give this hotel 3 stars out of 5. I had a wonderful weekend there with fresh, breezy air thought it was raining most of the time, and the view was beautiful. But I have to admit I have stayed somewhere nicer with same price (or even lower) and much better food and services. Will I consider coming back here again? Only if I get to stay at the villa. It was truly stunning and that's the only thing worth coming all this far for.

Anyways, this review is my very first one but I do hope this is helpful anyhow to anyone who is considering going to Positano. If you have any questions regarding hotels in Thailand, feel free to ask because it is one of my biggest obsessions! Hope you enjoy the review :)

It's Friday!

7 PM
I'm stuck here in my office on Friday evening.
Not to mention, tomorrow is my working Saturday.
(Once a month)

But
I happen to be a day dreamer.
So instead of whining about that forever,
let's spare my working time for 15 minutes to count the way I wanna enjoy Fridays, if there's no such thing called WORK in my life.

So won't you take my hand

 pack the bag and

 because

How would you like to travel?

 jump high and fly?

 blowing up to the sky?

we might land somewhere they're holding a carnival!

or who prefers this kind of ride? I do! Because...

We ride 'til we get tired and then park for an afternoon picnic

bite a piece or two of lemon pie (my FAVORITE sweets in the world)

enjoy ourselves and pay them no mind!

Too lazy? we could just stay home, grab those old painting brushes

and color our stairs like this!

Play "les champs-élysées" on piano and dream of Paris

 Watch "Roman holiday"

Listen to "Tennis" I LOVE THIS BAND!

hide in the bathtub and read all day

or better take a LONG HOT bubble bath!

and when it gets dark, let's go out and play firework!

Though these are only my wishes, it's always better to dream a little dream!

Gotta go! Have a great weekend everyone!

P.S. I planed this entry to be about my bestie Hong, who has left to Cambridge,England last Tuesday to pursue her Master Degree of illustrating. But it would take quiet an amount of time to write about such an amazing girl like her, and I only have like15 minutes here so, my apology! I'll make up to that soon!

Weekend retreat

What a lovely weekend it was.

Woke up to find mom's homemade organic breakfast. ( It's her current obsession)

Went to 23th Thailand's domestic travel Festival with long-time-no-see friends, got some good hotel deals and celebrated with a Pizza at Wine Connection Restaurant.

Got this adorable merlion as a souvenir from my bestie Kej who had her "Going solo" trip to Singapore last week. (Isn't that just cool? It was her second time abroad and she went all alone!)

Hand in hand shopping with my mom :) Look what we got!

And the best of all,
Had a wonderful dinner with my long term BFF Maprang, whom I haven't met for over a year since she left  for her second bachelor degree of Jewelry design, Central Saint Martin, England.
She surprised me with the hard cover edition of my all time favorite book "There's a boy in the girl's bathroom" by Louis Sachar. I lent her this a long time ago and she somehow lost it in her mystery room full of boxes of shoes, clothes and jewelry. (If you think I'm a mad shopper, think again!)  so she bought me this for an apology. Just look at the beautiful illustration of the cover, love it! Ask me what I love to read the most and my answer would always be the same, no matter how old I grow. It is a truly stunning and touching story I can never get enough of.

and the last surprise
She gave me her original design "M&M" ring, which she plans to launch this collection online soon.
My best friend made this! She's a designer and a brand owner! Don't you just love her already?
Raspberry tiramisu and lemon mille feuille
We talked and talked and talked more. It was like our old days, talking 'til we fall asleep on the phone, reading each other poems, singing each other songs (well, mostly I was the one singing!) and so on. Good old memories with her came back more lively than ever. We ended our nostalgic night with these lovely desserts from the "hottie" chef Johnny Liu of "The horse says moo" restaurant. The food, the place, the drink, (and of course, the one who cooked) were all fantastic. We really enjoyed the night :)

I have to say again, it was a truly lovely weekend I've had in a long time. I think my battery is fully charged and I'm ready to face the coming monday.
Hope you guys had a twirly weekend too!
